While exploring Berlin in mid-September I decided I needed a backpack to haul my things around in. I’d seen this Rains bag in Canada at stores like Simons and other places and knew it came in green but had never seen the green.

To my delight, after a nice man dug around in the back room for a few minutes at Galleries Lafayette in Berlin, he delivered to me the green version!

The bag is waterproof since it’s made of the same fabric (rubber?) as the brand’s jackets, which I also have. I wasn’t specifically looking for something waterproof but since I live in Vancouver it is a nice bonus. The zippers are even made with relatively good waterproofing to the point that when the bag is zipped up you can push on it from both sides and feel the resistance the air receives from escaping – sweet!

The internals of the bag is pretty basic. A cavernous interior with no pockets other than a slightly padded area to put your laptop (up to 15 inches) and a front exterior pocket. If you’re looking for something that will keep your stuff dry and has a clean, Scandinavian look then this simple and reasonably priced backpack may be just what you’re looking for.

Check out the full range of colours on the brand’s official website. Priced from €80 / $120. Rains also offer a variety of other very appealing bags that I struggle not buy.
